Privacy Policy

1. Overview

HomeschoolAI ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered education management platform for homeschool families. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We take the privacy of children especially seriously — all student profiles are created and controlled by a parent or guardian account.

2. Data We Collect

Account data

When you sign up, we collect your email address and a hashed password via Supabase Auth. We do not store passwords in plain text.

Student profiles

Parents create student profiles containing name, age, curriculum type, and an optional 4-digit access PIN. Students are not required to provide any information themselves.

Learning data

To provide the core service we store: quiz content and scores, homework submission images and AI-generated grades, AI tutor chat logs, schedule blocks, extracurricular activity sessions and AI coaching notes, and skill-level estimates derived from assessments.

Usage data

When you submit feedback through the in-app widget, we record the page URL you were on, your star rating, and any optional message you provide.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, personalize, and improve the HomeschoolAI service
• To power AI tutoring, quiz generation, homework grading, and progress analytics
• To send transactional emails — account confirmation, password reset, and low-score alerts — via Resend
• To detect performance trends and surface proactive alerts to parents
• To understand how families use the product and inform product decisions

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train AI models without explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Services

HomeschoolAI relies on the following sub-processors:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (EU/US data centres)
• Google Gemini — AI reasoning, quiz generation, homework grading, and tutoring responses. Homework images are sent to the Gemini API and are subject to Google's data use policies for the Gemini API.
• Resend — transactional email delivery

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Children's Privacy

HomeschoolAI is designed for use by parents on behalf of their children. Children do not create their own accounts. All student data is entered and controlled by the parent account holder. If you believe a child has submitted personal data directly without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us. Student profiles and all associated learning data are permanently deleted when the parent account is deleted.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel. We conduct regular security reviews and follow the OWASP Top 10 guidelines in our development process.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, and object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
